The final of much acclaimed tournament – ACA U-16 Inter District Tournament 2017, was played
between Visakhapatnam U-16 and Ananthpur U-16 at Tarakaram Krida Pranganam, Venkatgiri.
Visakhapatnam won the toss and elected to bat first. The team did not manage to reach a very good
score because of wonderful bowling performance of Ananthpur U-16. Smd. Kamil’s 5 wickets damaged the
batting line up of Visakhapatnam U-16 and the team closed at 139 runs in their first innings.
Batting second, Ananthpur U-16 too did not get a good start as they kept on losing the wickets from the
early overs. Visakhapatnam U-16 gave a good fight and bundled up the opponent in just 119 runs.
Highest scorer of the innings was P.Arjun Tendulkar, who scored 36 runs. K. Nitish Kumar Reddy from
Visakhapatnam U-16 displayed wonderful bowling skills by taking 6 wickets, was the main reason for the
early collapse of Ananthpur U-16.
In the second innings, Visakhapatnam U-16 played well with K. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rahul Kumar
scoring 67 and 52 runs respectively. The team ended at the decent score of 203 runs at the end of the
innings. Smd. Kamil from Anathpur U-16 shined again with 5 important wickets, which did interrupted
the run flow of the opponent team.
Anathpur U-16 gave wonderful fight as the team had a good batting line up with most of the players
adding to the final score. The highest scorers were T. Mahendra Reddy and Mk.Datta Ready, who have
scored 54 and 41 runs respectively. Bowling highlight of the innings was K. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who
again took 4 important wickets. The team with some wonderful performances ended at the score of 209
runs.
Since Visakhapatnam U-16 was leading by 20 runs from the first innings, they won the final by 14 runs.
It was an interesting fight till the end as both the teams performed extremely well in both their innings.
