One of the most celebrated tournaments of Guwhati- NEPL - North East Premier League, organized by Marwari Yuva Manch, Guwahati Branch was played between 17th Dec.’18 to 25th Dec.’18.
Out of 12 participant teams, an all-important final of this heavily followed tournament was played between Polyfoam Blasters and DU Diamonds on 25th Dec.’18 at Judges Field- Guwahati.
DU Diamonds won the toss and opted to bowl first. Batting first, Polyfoam Blasters played a wonderful innings and posted a very good score of 151 runs in 15 overs by losing 4 wickets. Opening batsmen Nitin Kundalia and Saket Kothari gave team a good start by scoring 36 and 23 runs respectively at fast pace. However, the key contributor was Captain Rahul Bajoria, who smashed 68 runs off 33 balls with 10 sixes. None of the bowlers from DU Diamonds managed to restrict the run flow of Polyfoam Blasters, however, Shreyansh Jain succeeded in picking up 2 important wickets in 4 overs.
While chasing, despite facing an early blow in form of Aashrey Jain team gave an excellent fight and chase down the target in 14.5 overs by losing 4 wickets. Strong partnership between Devesh Saraogi (25) and Navit Kumar Agarwalla (32) took team back on track after losing their first wicket quite early. It was followed by an outstanding innings by Captain Ashish Agarwal, who scored unbeaten 56 runs in 21 balls with 5 boundaries and 5 sixes leading team straight to the final win.
The crucial final of NEPL- North East Premier League, which turn out to be the viewer’s delight with both the teams performing extremely well went in favour of DU Diamonds as they posted a 6 wicket win against Polyfoam Blasters.
Ashish Agarwal from DU Diamonds was awarded as the player of the match for his significant contribution.
