Sonnet Club’s Tour of South Africa began on 26th Aug’17 in Johannesburg. The first match of the tournament was played between Eastern Academy and Sonnet Club.
Eastern Academy won the toss and elected bat. Outstanding bowling by Sonnet Club players restricted the team from scoring well. No one except Faanu, who scored 66 runs in 54 balls, was able to perform well in the entire innings. Hrithik Rana from Sonnet Club bowled really well as he took 2 wickets in 4 overs by giving only 9 runs. Eastern Academy closed at 121 runs in 28.2 overs after losing all wickets.
While chasing the target of 122 runs, Sonnet Club too lost its first wicket very early. However, Bhavesh Sharma, who has scored 46 runs in 79 balls, remained not out till the end helped team reach to its target steadily. Eastern Academy’s not so effective bowling worked in favor of Sonnet Club as they got 24 extra runs in the innings.
The team reached to its target in 28.3 overs and won their first match by 9 wickets against Eastern Academy.
