Bastar Premier League 2018- organized by Yuva Bastar Jila Cricket Sangh was played between 16th Nov.’18 to 5th Dec.’18 at Jagdalpur.
Out of the 8 participant teams, an all-important final of this heavily followed tournament was played between Kukanaar Knight Riders and Bastar Blaster on 5th Dec.’18 at Lalbag- Jagdalpur.
Bastar Blaster won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first, Kukanaar Knight Riders started well with both the opening batsmen Shankar Baghel and Koushalendra Rathore scoring 16 and 38 runs respectively at fast pace. Amit Singh and Sameet Thakur too contributed well by adding useful 38 and 27 runs respectively helping team reach at a competitive score of 137 runs at the end of 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. Pick of the bowlers was Suresh Sinha from Bastar Blaster, who bowled an impressive spell of 3/21 in 4 overs restricting Kukanaar Knight Riders from putting up a big score.
While replying, Baster Blaster started to fumble from early overs against the strong bowling attack from Kukanaar Knight Riders. None of the players managed to stay strong on crease except Vivek Rai, who scored unbeaten 32 runs off 36 balls. With most the players being dismissed in single digits, team crumbled in 17.4 overs making 92 runs. Most of the bowlers from Kukanaar Knight Riders performed extremely well, pick of the lot was V. Netam, who scalped 2 wickets in 3 overs giving only 5 runs. Koushalendra Rathore and Tony Barla too bowled well and chipped in with 2 wickets each damaging the batting line up of Baster Blaster completely.
Koushalendra Rathore from Kukanaar Knight Riders was awarded as the player of the match for his all-round contribution.
Kukanaar Knight Riders registered a 45 run win over Baster Blaster in the final of Baster Premier League 2018.
