P Mallikarjuna Jyothi Memorial Cup (Kudithini Premier League Season -3) 2018 was organized between 9th Nov.’18 to 30th Nov.’18 at Bellary.
8 teams from various verticals participated in this tournament, from which the crucial final of this heavily followed tournament was played between Swamy Vivekanand (Kudathini) and Kesar Maharaj (Kudathini) on 30th Nov.’18 at Kampli Road Kuthalini at Bellary.
Kesari Maharaja won the toss and elected to field. The decision did not proved to be beneficial for the teams as they failed terribly in restricting the opponent from scoring well. Batting first, Swamy Vivekananda played well and posted a good score of 144 runs at the end of 20 overs wiht the loss of 7 wickets. Opening batsman VG Manjunatha started well by smashing 49 runs in 48 balls with 4 boundaries. The other major contributors were Santosh and Prasad, who added 28 and 24 runs respectively at fast rate helping team reach at a good score for the finals. Pick of the bowlers was Raja from Kesari Maharaja, who picked 2 important wickets 4 overs.
While replying, Kesari Maharaja started to lose wickets from early overs. None of the players managed to score well against strong bowling attack from Swamy Vivekananda. Most of the players were dismissed in single digits, where highest score was 13 runs made by Manju. Team folded making 65 runs in 18.5 overs. The chief wrecker was Shakar from Swamy Vivekananda, who scalped 3 important wickets in 3 overs giving only 8 runs. C. Kiran Kumar and Santosh too chipped in with 3 and 2 wickets respectively damaging the batting line up of Kesari Maharaja completely.
Swamy Vivekananda registered a glorious 79 run win over Kesari Maharaja in the final of P Mallikarjuna Jyothi Memorial Cup (Kudithini Premier League Season -3) 2018.
