SGVP Trophy-8 (U-17)- organized by SGVP Surya Sports Academy- Ahmedabad was played between 22nd Oct.’18 to 24th Nov.’18.
19 teams from various cities participated in this much celebrated tournament from which, the crucial final was played between SGVP International School and Felan Cricket Academy on 24th Nov.’18 at SGVP Cricket Ground- Ahmedabad.
Electing to bat, SGVP International School got a good start with opening batsman Harshal Jain smashing 50 runs in 46 balls with 8 boundaries. He was well supported by Karansingh Ranawat from the other end, who added 53 runs at fast pace taking team to the strong position. Dilip Suthar too contributed well by adding 28 runs at fast balls during crucial overs. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, team managed to put up a good score of 198 runs at the end of 30 overs by losing 8 wickets. Pick of the bowlers was Krish Gupta from Felan Cricket Academy, who picked 2 wickets in 6 overs.
While replying, Felan Cricket Academy started to fumble from early overs. None of the players managed to go beyond 20’s and team collapsed at a meager score of 89 runs in 26.2 overs. Opening batsman Pavitra Patel was the highest scorer, who made 27 runs in 31 balls. The other player, who managed to reach at 20’s was Harsh Barot, whose 26 runs came during last few overs of the innings, which helped team reach at the score of 89 runs at the end. Bowling highlight of the innings was Kiran Thakor from SGVP International School, who rattled the rival boat completely by picking up 4 important wickets in 6 overs resulted in early collapse of Felan Cricket Academy.
SGVP International School registered a glorious 109 run win over Felan Cricket Academy in the final of SGVP Trophy-8 (U-17).
