Late Mehul Jitendra Chauhan U-19 Tournament 2018 organized by Sir Bhavsinhji Cricket Club was played between 15th Oct.’18 to 3rd Nov.’18 at Bhavnagar.
8 teams from different cities participated in this tournament from which, an all-important final was played between MSKCA-A and YCCI on 3rd Nov.’18 at Sir Bhavnsinhji Cricket Club ground- Bhavnagar.
Electing to bat, MSKCA -A put up a decent score of 173 runs in 39.4 overs after losing all the wickets. Though team faced an early blow in the form of Harsh Dasadiya, Mehul Chohla handled the situation well from the other end by scoring 51 runs in 65 balls giving team much needed stability. He was supported well by Captain Yuvrajsinh Shinol, who added useful 24 runs in 33 balls. The other major contributor was Jay Gohil with 34 runs. With most of the players contributing for the final score, team managed to reach at a reasonable score of 173 runs despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Kush Gupta from YCCI was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 wickets in 8 overs. Rahul Vankani too chipped in with 3 important wickets reducing the pace of MSKCA- A.
While chasing, YCCI failed to get a good start and lost some important wickets in the beginning. However, Kashyap Raval, who came to bat on 3rd position score stable 52 runs. Rahul Gupta too contributed well by adding useful 36 runs. Though team failed to score at required pace and ended up scoring 158 runs at the end of 40 overs by losing 7 wickets.
