The first semi-final of All India Wonder Cement U-16 Cricket Tournament 2017 was between Wonder Pacific Cricket Academy and Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Academy. Held at Shikarbadi Cricket ground- Udaipur, the match was extremely exciting for the followers of both teams. The Wonder Pacific Cricket Academy won the semi-final by a narrow margin of 6 runs.
40 overs semi-final started with Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Academy electing to field first after winning the toss. Wonder Pacific Cricket Academy lost its first 2 wickets within 20 overs. However, Karansingh Ranawat and Abhishek Chandel’s wonderful partnership gave a much needed boost by adding 119 runs. Team closed at 229 runs by losing all wickets in 38.2 overs. Bhavani Shankar Chaudhary bowled extremely well and took important 4 wickets by giving only 24 runs in 6.2 overs.
While chasing the target of 230 runs, Rajeev Gandhi Cricket Academy made a poor start as they lost their 2 wickets in the first 2 balls. But Sachin Kakodiya, who was on fire smashed 110 runs in 99 balls kept the hope alive for the team. Though all the players tried to manage the other end, the team could not reach to the target and fall short of only 6 runs for winning the semi-final.
