Friends Cup 2018 organized by Young Boys Nadihal was played between 22nd July’18 to 9th Sep.’18 at Baramulla.
Out of the 24 participant teams, an all- important final of this much cherished tournament was played between Run Riders Binner and Chakloo XI on 9th Sep.’18 at Nadihal Sports Field- Baramulla.
Electing to bat, Run Riders Binner posted 153 runs in 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Key contributors were Jahangir and Mansoor Ahmed, who made 33 and 27 runs respectively at fast rate helping team reach at a good score. Pick of the bowlers was Barkat Elahi from Chakloo xI, who scalped 3 wickets in 4 overs.
While chasing, opening batsman Tanveer Elahi gave Chakloo XI a good start by scoring 22 runs off 17 balls with 2 boundaries and 1 six. He was supported well from the other end by Bariz, who smashed 35 runs in 22 balls leading team to a strong position. Mutanzim too played a wonderful innings and added 51 runs at fast rate, which took team very close to the target. However, the scenario changed completely after his dismissal as remaining players failed terribly and team crumbled at the score of 138 runs in 17.4 overs. Mansoor Ahmed and Mudasir dar from Run Riders Binner were the reason behind team’s early collapse. They managed to pick 3 wickets each during crucial overs, which swayed away the game completely out of the hands of Chakloo XI.
Run Riders Binner registered a 15 run win over Chakloo XI in the final of Friends Cup 2018.
Player of the match was Jahangir from Run Riders Binner.
Hilal from Run Riders Binner was awarded as the player of the tournament.
