One of the most prestigious tournaments of Andhra Cricket Association- ACA U-16 Inter District Knockout Tournament 2018 was played between 27th Aug.’18 to 31st Aug.’18 at Kadapa.
Out of the 4 participant teams, the crucial final of this most cherished tournament was played between U-16 Nellore and U-16 Prakasam at Tarakarama Krida Praganamu- Venkatagiri, which started on 29th Aug,’18.
U-16 Prakasam won the toss and chose to field. Batting first, U-16 Nellore played a good innings and posted 241 runs at the end of first innings. R. Tharun Raj was the key contributor, who played extremely well and scored unbeaten 122 runs helping team reach at a good score. Sk Kamaal and Nagulluri Madhav too played well and added 35 and 37 runs respectively. Bowling highlight of the innings was GG.Pardha Saradhi from U-16 Prakasam, who scalped 5/26 restricted U-16 Nellore from putting up a big score. A. Kiran too bowled well and chipped in with 3 important wickets, further damaging the batting line up of U-16 Nellore.
While replying, U-16 Prakasam did not manage to put up a good show and collapsed at the score of 91 runs at the end of their first innings. Highest run-getter was M. Abhinav with 44 runs. Almost all the bowlers of U-16 Nellore contributed well but S.Akhil and Sk Baji bowled exceptionally well and picked 2 wickets each at extremely low economy rate, restricting U-16 Prakasam batsman from scoring well.
U-16 Nellore started their 2nd innings with the lead of 150 runs and scored 178 runs at the end of 3rd day with the loss of 5 wickets. The match was drawn as U-16 Prakasam did not get a chance to play the 2nd innings.
U-16 Nellore was declared as winners on the basis of 1st innings lead.
