S. Chandan Mull Mutha Cup 2018 was organized between 1st July’18 to 26th Aug.’18 at Chennai.
Out of the 6 participant teams, the crucial final of this much celebrated tournament was played between Diamond XI and Mutha Brothers on 26th Aug.’18 at Don Bosco School Perambur - Chennai.
Mutha Brothers won the toss and chose to field. Batting first, Diamond XI played a good innings and put up a competitive score of 165 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 4 wickets. Deepak FolaMutha was the key contributor, who made unbeaten 69 runs off 59 with 6 boundaries. He was well assisted by Dhiraj Elana from the other end, who scored 41 runs in 29 balls helping team reach at a good score of 165 runs. Kamlesh Bohra from Mutha Brothers was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets.
While replying, Mutha Brothers failed to get a good start and lost some important wickets in early overs. However, Vijaya Raj and Deepak Talawat played good innings by adding 36 runs each at fast pace. Since majority of the players were dismissed in single digits, team did not manage to reach at the target and collapsed in 19.2 overs by making 122 runs. Almost all the bowlers of Diamond XI performed well but pick of the lot was Dhiraj Elana, who scalped 2 wickets in 3 overs. Anil Ranka and Vikas Sayala too chipped in 2 wickets each damaging the batting line up of Mutha Brothers badly.
Diamond XI registered a 43 run win over Mutha Brothers in the final of S. Chandan Mull Mutha Cup 2018.
Deepak FolaMutha from Diamond XI was awarded as the player of the match.
