One of the most cherished tournaments of Ahmedabad- The Rolling Cup - Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament 2018 was organized between 26th May’18 to 24th Jun.’18.
31 Teams from various cities of Gujarat participated in this tournament, from which the crucial final was played between Young XI TRC and Shivv 11 on 24th Jun.’18 at Sprint Recreation - Ahmedabad.
Electing to bat, Young XI TRC failed to put up a good show and bundled up at a meager score of 54 runs in 11.1 overs. Captain Surat Bhadoriya was the highest scorer, who managed to score 22 runs off 21 balls. However, none of the remaining players managed to go beyond single digits. All the bowlers from Shivv 11 did a wonderful job but pick of the lot was Chintan Chaudhari, who scalped 3 wickets in 3 overs giving only 13 runs. Alkesh Patni, Sunny and Mulik Patel too chipped in with 2 wickets each destroying the batting line up of Young XI completely.
After disappointing batting display, Young XI TRC did a strong come back with effective bowling. Shivv 11 started to fumble from early overs while chasing the target of 55 runs. Despite trying till the last over, team failed to score at required rate and fell short of just 1 run from reaching at the target. Highest scorers were Chintan Chaudhari and Alkesh Patni with 16 and 13 runs respectively. Urvish Thummar’s 3 important wickets during crucial overs proved instrumental for his team in the final win.
