N. C. Chatterjee Trophy 2017-18 - organized by The Cricket Association Of Bengal was played between 3rd Apr.’18 to 4th Jun.’18 at Kolkata.
Out of the 8 participant teams, the crucial final of this tournament was played between Jorabagan Club and Taltala Institute on 4th Jun.’18 at Eden Garden- Kolkata.
Taltala Institute won the toss and elected to field. Batting first, Jorabagan Club got a very good start with opening batsman Rupak Kumar Singh raced to 85 runs in just 65 balls with 7 boundaries and 5 sixes. However, team did lost some important wickets in early overs, they posted a reasonable score of 148 runs at the end of 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. Captain Nirmal Acharjee too played a good innings and added 35 runs off 33 balls.
While replying, Taltala Institute gave a very good fight with most of the players contributing significantly for the final chase. Opening batsmen Arnab Sikder and Rajarshi Dutta started well with 55 and 28 runs respectively at fast rate. Arun Kumar Saha too came up with strong innings as he scored 34 runs off 23 balls and remained not out. Despite their best effort, team fell short of 2 runs from winning the final. Taltala Institute was restricted at 146 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 5 wickets.
Both the teams displayed a wonderful performance, where Jorabagan Club won the final by 2 runs against Taltala Institute in the final of N.C. Chatterjee Trophy 2017-18.
Rupak Kumar Singh from Jorabagan Club was awarded as the player of the match.
