CAB Junior Knock 2017-18 - organized by The Cricket Association of Bengal was played between 22nd Apr.’18 to 30th May’18 at Kolkata.
Out of the 8 participant teams, the crucial final of this tournament was played between Cricket Club of Bhowanipur and Jorabagan Club on 28th May’18 at Eden Garden- Kolkata.
Cricket Club of Bhowanipur won the toss and elected to bat. Proving their decision right, team came up with the strong batting line up, where almost all the players contributing well for final score. Highest scorers were Sandipan Dey and Soupayan Sen with 51 and 48 runs respectively. Team posted a good score of 215 runs at the end of 50 overs by losing 8 wickets. Bowling highlight of the innings was Jayesh Kr. Singh, who picked 3 wickets in 10 overs by giving only 38 runs. Iman Dutta too chipped in with 3 important wickets restricting opponent from putting up a big score.
While replying, Jorabagan Club started to fumble from early overs against the strong bowling attack by Cricket Club of Bhowanipur. None of the players managed to stand for long on the crease and team went on losing wickets at regular intervals. Captain Nirmal Acharjee was the highest scorer, who made 35 runs off 41 balls with 3 boundaries. Though all the bowlers of Cricket Club of Bhowanipur did a good job, the show stealer was Shubham Maurya with 5 wickets in 8.4 overs. With his outstanding effort, Jorabgan Club bowled out for 133 runs in 39.4 overs.
